Membership
The 3D Game of Life is free to use, with no account and no ads. A membership adds bigger worlds, every theme, your own colours and lighting, longer videos, 3D model files and VR, and pays for the site.
What is free
Everything you need to explore, without signing in:
- Every pattern and every rule: the 30 named rules, your own rules, and Find rules.
- Simple and Advanced mode, painting and editing cells, the timeline and step back, charts.
- 3D worlds up to 30 cells per side, 4D worlds up to 20⁴ cells, and all of 2D mode.
- 7 of the 24 themes: Clay, Default, B & W, Forest, Ocean, Viridis and High Contrast. Every other theme previews for 30 seconds.
- Ambient occlusion and shadows.
- Screenshots, and videos of up to 10 seconds.
- Share links and embeds, and 5 saved patterns (and 5 saved 4D worlds).
Shared links, world files and saved setups always open exactly as they were made, whoever opens them. A member's big world or custom look can be viewed by anyone.

Signed in, your saved patterns are kept in your account, so they follow you to every device, as the membership does.

The yearly plan costs 35% less than twelve monthly payments. The free trial comes with your first monthly or yearly plan, once per email address: you are billed after 7 days, and if you cancel before the trial ends you pay nothing. Lifetime is a single payment with nothing to renew.
Payments are handled by Stripe; the site never sees your card. Checkout shows what you will pay before you pay it, and takes promotion codes if you have one.
How to become a member
- In the app, press See plans on any locked control, or open the More tab of the control panel and choose See membership plans under Account.
- Sign in with Google, or with your email address: you get a link that signs you in, with no password to remember.
- Pick a plan and pay in Stripe's checkout. You come back to the app as a member.
Cancelling or changing your plan
Open the More tab, then Manage membership under Account. It opens Stripe's customer portal, where you can cancel, switch between monthly and yearly, change your payment method and download invoices. A cancelled plan stays active until the end of the period you have paid for, and is not renewed.
When a membership ends, nothing you made is deleted: your worlds and saved patterns stay as they are, and the free limits apply to what you change next.
To delete your account, use Delete account in the same place. A plan that still renews has to be cancelled first. Privacy says what is stored and for how long.
Questions
Do I need an account to use the site? No. Accounts are only for membership and for keeping saved patterns across devices.
Will a shared world look the same for someone without a membership? Yes. Links, world files and embeds open exactly as they were made.
Are there ads? No.
